MASHENE Music Outrageous Update, Las Vegas June 1, 2023
K-pop sensation T.O.P, breaking the silence on the ongoing speculation, verified that he has officially cut ties with the iconic boy band, BigBang, while also dropping tantalizing clues about a potential solo venture on the horizon.
Answering the curiosity of an Instagram follower, @safiraqutorul, on his departure from the group, T.O.P made the startling revelation this Tuesday, May 30. The query found itself in the sea of comments under his latest social media post.
In T.O.P’s words, “I’ve already parted ways [with BigBang],” he stated. “I revealed my intention to leave last year and have since been navigating a fresh phase in my life.” Keeping his fandom on their toes, he also insinuated that he’s actively working on his personal albums, opening up possibilities of upcoming solo music to his eager followers.
This confirmation comes in the wake of T.O.P’s separation from his erstwhile label, YG Entertainment, a good year ago in February 2022. At the time, the record label emphasized that the rapper expressed a desire to explore new territories beyond the confines of BigBang.
When T.O.P’s contract with YG expired, the artist chose to pursue a broad range of ventures, not just in music but as a budding entrepreneur as well, as per YG’s official announcement translated by Soompi
According to the record label, T.O.P showed a keen interest in expanding his personal pursuits, beyond just his commitments with BigBang, and this perspective was agreed upon by the remaining band members.
Stepping into the limelight as Choi Seung-hyun, T.O.P first captivated fans as the lead rapper, visual, and vocalist of BigBang back in August 2006. As it stands, the group is down to three active members – G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung, and now continues to navigate the music scene sans T.O.P.
